Financial Experience Is Important. Having Actually Owned a Business Changes the Conversation.

Hi, I’m Andy Bush, founder of Bush Business Advisors. I started Bush Business Advisors to help established business owners better understand their numbers, improve profitability, and make confident decisions about what comes next.

But my perspective doesn’t come only from spreadsheets and financial reports. I’ve spent years on both sides of the table — analyzing businesses financially and actually owning and operating one.

After earning my Finance degree from Texas Tech University, I began my career in corporate finance, specializing in data analysis, financial reporting, and project management.

That experience taught me how to look beyond individual numbers and understand what they say about the performance of an entire business — where things are working, where problems may be developing, and where opportunities exist.

But the most valuable part of my education was still ahead of me.

From Finance Professional to Business Owner

In 2007, I opened my own construction company under a national franchise brand.

Suddenly, I wasn’t analyzing someone else’s business. I was responsible for sales, employees, customers, expenses, cash flow, operations, and every decision that came with being the owner. By 2016, our office had become the #1 location in the country, and I continued operating the company until July 2024.

Those years gave me something financial training alone never could: firsthand experience with what it actually feels like to build and run a successful small business.

Why I Started Bush Business Advisors

Most businesses begin with an idea, determination, and a willingness to work harder than almost anyone else. Those qualities can get a company off the ground — but eventually the business reaches a point where working harder is no longer the answer.

That’s why I created Bush Business Advisors. I wanted to combine my background in finance with my experience as a business owner to help other entrepreneurs understand what’s really happening inside their companies. Because better decisions shouldn’t come from guessing, hoping, or relying entirely on gut instinct.

They should come from having the right information — and knowing what to do with it.
